Welcome to our new Speciality range of coffees. These are premium, single origin coffees of a very high quality, with quite distinctive aroma and taste.  Whilst some of these coffees are readily available, many others are so special that they are in very limited supply, so once they are gone they are gone!  Speciality Coffee is an exciting and growing area of the coffee market, which offers you the opportunity to taste some truly exceptional coffees and to broaden your repertoire.

Many growers are keen to grow and promote these coffees. Because of their high quality they are able to attain a higher price for their coffee, which of course makes it more expensive for us to buy and sell to you.  But the positive side of this is that the growers can increase their income, which benefits the local families and the economy.

Brewing Guide

Most of our Speciality coffees are medium to dark roasted. This makes them suitable to be brewed using most brewing methods such as Bean-To-Cup Machines, Electric Espresso Machines, Moka Pots / Stove Top Espresso Pots as well as Filter and Cafetiere methods of brewing coffee. Please check each coffee for details.

Tanzanian Finagro Plantations Honey - NEW

This coffee is one of two coffees we have from the Finagro Plantations in northern Tanzania. Located in the Oldeani area on the slopes of the Ngorongoro Crater, the area is a haven for wildlife including elephants, rhinos, lions and small antelope. Amongst the highest grown coffee in Tanzania, this coffee is honey processed giving it a sweeter taste, but with more rounded acidity. Medium-Dark roasted, this coffee can be brewed as a Filter/Cafetiere, or through a Bean-to-Cup Machine, and as a mild Espresso. Brazilian Oliveira - NEW

This coffee is grown across two farms - Fazenda Estrela and Fazenda Recanto, located in the Serra do Salitre in the Minas Gerais region of Brazil. Only the cherries that have already started drying on the trees, which are called boia, are selected for this lot. This helps promote a richer heavier flavour. It’s a family-run business across 200 hectares. Everyone is passionate about coffee and the farm has been placed 8th in previous Cup of Excellence awards. The taste profile is Tropical Fruits, Dark Chocolate, Almonds and Caramel. The coffee is Medium-Dark roasted so can be brewed through a Bean-to-Cup machine, Filter or Cafetiere. Ecuador Vilcabamba - NEW

In the south of Ecuador, on an idyllic plateau surrounded by the mighty Andes Mountains, lies the small village of Vilcabamba. From Quechua, the language of the Inca, the name Vilcabamba translates as “Holy Valley”. This area of Ecuador is quite unique. There are few places in the western world where such a high proportion of the population grow as old as this, and enjoy the best of health at the same time! The cultivation of coffee has enjoyed a long tradition for the people of Vilcabamba. On the mountain slopes of this beautiful place, the small farmers of Vilcabamba grow the very best Arabica coffees. During the harvest, between June and October, the families pick the ripe, red cherries and clean the beans in the water of the nearby mountain rivers. Then the coffee is slowly sun dried and hand sorted. Only small quantities of this coffee are produced each year, as it is cultivated primarily through manual labour and through family businesses producing this wonderful coffee. This delicious new coffee can be brewed either as an Espresso, or as a Filter/ Cafetiere coffee. If you are brewing using a Filter or Cafetiere you’ll be hit by an aroma that evokes spices with hints of chocolate, whilst if you’re brewing the coffee as an espresso the chocolate notes come to the fore as the coffee has a distinctly chocolate aroma with undertones of spice. Tanzanian AA Ngila Estate - NEW

The Ngila Coffee Estate is around 100 hectares, containing some 150,000 coffee trees which produce around 120 tons of prime Arabica highland coffee every year. The coffee varieties are Bourbon and Typica. The farmlands are located at 1500 -1600 metres above sea level and 4° south of the Equator. It’s positioned on the edge of the cloud forest of the northern highlands, near to the Conservation Area on the slopes of Ngorongoro crater in northern Tanzania in East Africa. Ngila Coffee Estate was founded at the beginning of the twentieth century by a German settler. It was an ambitious undertaking but was a success. The coffee farmers laid the foundation for the unique coffee that grows in this mineral-rich volcanic soil. This coffee is Medium-Dark Roasted and can be brewed through an Espresso Machine or through a Filter/Cafetiere. The cup profile is Blackberries, Caramel, Peanuts and Black Tea. More Details
