This coffee is sourced from the Worka Cooperative Union based in the Gedeb area in the southern part of the Gedeo zone, with Yirgacheffe lying approximately 25 kms north. The Gedeb district is home to thousands of coffee farming families, and is very quickly developing a strong reputation for outstanding coffees. In the Gedio language the word "worka" means gold - a name associated with the friendly-natured inhabitants of the area since the days of King Haile Selassie.

Worka was created in 2006 and is now very well known in the world of Speciality Coffee. It comprises of 1745 small holders, of which 314 are women. Worka became part of the Yirgacheffe Coffee Farmers Cooperatives Union (YCFCU) in 2010.  Its members join and stay with the Union because they see themselves as very much part of the business. They are offered training from farming techniqes to personal finances, so they can improve their production methods and can manage their finances to help them through the off season.

The coffee is grown at an altitude of 1700 to 2200 metres above sea level, and is naturally or sun dried processed. Yirgacheffee coffees are renowned for their fragrant and floral taste profiles, with wine and fruit overtones. They tend to have a smooth body with a long lingering finish. The taste profile of this coffee is Floral Jasmine, Sweet Blueberry and Vanilla, smooth in body and with a long finish. Medium-Dark roasted, this coffee can be brewed as a Filter or Cafetiere, through a Bean-to-Cup Machine or as a mild Espresso.
